Picks of the week:

Hellcat #2: Written by Kate Leth, illustrated by Brittney L Williams, colored by Megan Wilson, and published by Marvel.
Okay, I am over the top OBSESSED with this book in every way possible. It's probably the only comic that makes me audibly laugh multiple times per issue. The dialogue is incredibly intelligent, witty, and relatable for me. The art is equally hilarious while also being clean and beautiful, with super clever cameos and references in the backgrounds. Pasty aka Hellcat just got fired from her job working for the fabulous lawyer Jennifer aka She Hulk. Patsy also got evicted from her apartment but she was able to move in with her new found telepathic ex-criminal friend Ian! To make ends meet while she brainstorms how to get her idea for Super Hero Temp Agency off the ground, Patsy takes a job working retail and it is amazing. By amazing, I mean hilarious because of how accurate the horrors of retail are. Although, Patsy's problems may be even greater than just having to deal with the mundane annoyances of life. I loved this issue because toward the end we get to see SO many of our favorite ladies. Even Squirrel Girl was there! If you're not reading this book, you should be. Patsy is now one of my most favorite female characters.

Silver Surfer #1: Written by Dan Slott, illustrated by Mike Allred, colored by Laura Allred, and published by Marvel.
I don't have quite as much to say about this book, because all you need to know is that it's basically Norrin Rad acting like Doctor Who and it's the greatest thing ever. In this issue, the earth is attacked by an alien race that sucks away all our art and culture and then becomes the most famous heroes and warriors, using their powers against us. There's Harry Potter, Kill Bill, Lord of the Rings, Robocop, Marty McFly, etc all with green tentacled alien heads. Quite a sight to see, and hysterical. I had way too much fun reading this issue and can't wait for this series to continue. This is technically the reboot, and I want to go back and read the first run soon!
